Built just metres from the water, coastal luxury blends with classic comfort in this stunning Hamptons-style home.
Floor to ceiling glass windows and doors provide spectacular views of the Port Bouvard canals, as well as allowing plenty of natural light to flow through all three levels, creating open, airy spaces.
A close collaboration between the clients, designers and builders, the Wannanup home was custom built for the couple but designed with extended family visits in mind, with accessibility a key requirement due to one of their adult children being in a wheelchair.
“We wanted to ensure our son was able to get around easily and be able to get into every room on every level, as well as having easy access to the canal and jetty,” the clients explains. “We were originally looking at established homes but couldn’t find one that suited our needs.
“We came across Riverstone in our search and after looking through the displays we knew it was the way to go – their houses were effortlessly luxurious yet still had a beautiful warm, homely feel – which is exactly what we were after.”
An internal lift and vast hallways and doorways tick the accessibility box, while the waterside location lends itself well to the on-trend Hamptons-style, with Caramel Oak timber floors, feature cladding and hues of white and grey throughout.
Stone is featured from the front porch piers through to the double-sided fireplace, which makes a striking impact from the moment you enter the double entry doors, as well as being used on a feature wall at the rear of the home facing the canal.
“The stone fireplace is one of my favourite things,” the client says. “Not only does it look incredible and is a real feature of the home, it’s practical – heating the living room inside and making the alfresco a cosy space to still be able to enjoy when it’s cold.”
Indoor/outdoor flow is maximised with bi-fold doors separating the open-plan living area from the cedar-lined alfresco complete with outdoor kitchen, while inside the dining and central kitchen island bench overlook the plunge pool and canal.
Light streams through the window splashback and highlights the beautiful stone benchtops in the first-class kitchen and scullery, which are completed with an abundance of cabinetry, integrated Miele appliances and soft close draws.
The functional laundry and powder room are also on the ground floor, as well as guest bedroom with ensuite.
Upstairs, the master suite has a stunning ensuite, his and her walk-in robes – one of which is a huge dressing room – and a wall of glass capitalises on the water views, which are mirrored from the adjoining balcony. This is also accessed by another living area, which flows into a study nook which has been cleverly designed behind the staircase.
The two other sizable bedrooms have extensive walk-in robes, and are serviced by a bathroom with a free-standing bath and charcoal herringbone feature tiling, a theme which is continued through all the bathrooms and powder rooms.
The basement level has a wine cellar with built-in cabinetry, games room with kitchenette, powder room, storage and direct access to the jetty.
“That’s our ‘man cave’ down there, we can come straight up off the boat, grab a beer and have a game of pool while the crabs are cooking,” he says. “We love being outdoors – the balconies and outdoor areas are all north-facing, so they are protected and we can use them all year round.”
The clients say the entire building process was made easy.
“We had fabulous liaison with staff; from sales, to drawing up the plans to selecting the finishes – the designer understood what we liked, and we can’t speak highly enough of Tony the building supervisor,” she adds.
“We just love everything about it. There’s heaps of room over the three levels despite it being a relatively small block, so when the whole extended family are here, grandkids and all – it doesn’t feel crowded.
“We honestly could not be happier.”
