Built on the doorstep of one of Perth’s most iconic beaches, our latest luxury custom build is a perfect example of a contemporary yet functional family home.
The three-level Trigg residence has a bold white modern exterior highlighted by a skillion roof and straight lines complementing the coastal location, which has been capitalised on through reverse living – inviting incredible views from the top floor kitchen, dining and living space.
Riverstone’s interior architect Nadia De Cerff worked closely with the family to ensure the look of the house – both inside and out – matched their aspirations.
“The brief was to create a timeless, contemporary aesthetic that was functional and enduring for their three young children,” Nadia explains. “We designed a consistent palette to create a sense of luxury, whilst integrating some playful elements in the joinery and furnishings.”
The clients wanted to enjoy a daily connection with the coastline, and the proximity to the ocean is evident throughout much of the first floor, drenched in natural light with walls of glass and windows up to the skillion roof.
These areas also flow to a balcony overlooking the ocean, while a second balcony sits opposite with a direct view to the rear garden and pool, and has its own external staircase leading down to the ground floor alfresco area.
“The design allows additional sunlight and views of the sky from the kitchen, dining and living area,” Nadia explains. “It also opens up the space to feel more elevated and connected with the outdoors.”
The seamless kitchen has a feature stone island bench with waterfall edges, integrated appliances and a hidden scullery concealed behind rich walnut joinery.
The fireplace in the living room is another beautiful focal point, with a floating shelf in Caesarstone Statuario Maximus, and leads through to the activity room.
A wine cellar and powder room sit just off the living space, and on the other side of the tiled staircase and lift is the luxurious master suite, complete with walk in robe and ensuite.
Downstairs, the ground floor has the home’s four other bedrooms – one guest suite with its own ensuite and walk in robe, and three sizeable minor bedrooms with built in robes are serviced by the family bathroom, with a freestanding bath, double vanity and storage for days.
Versatility is key in the games/living room, which offers the perfect place to settle in for a theatre-style movie, or entertain – having its own kitchenette with feature chevron-style wine shelving and mirror splashback reflecting the backyard and pool area.
Outside, the alfresco area provides another option for entertaining, or just sitting back and taking in everything the backyard has to offer, from the pool to the gardens to the lawn for the kids to run around and enjoy.
Even the pool area has its own touch of style, with feature timber stairs leading to the poolside cabana.
“The dining table and bench seats in the ground floor games/living was also important, with the clients wanted to replicate a similar setting they had overseas which would be easy for the children to sit around for crafts and board games,” Nadia says. “We worked with Arthur G to create a custom design to suit.”
In the undercroft there is the garage, store room and a second wine cellar.
Custom designed and finished to perfection, this one-of-a-kind, elegant, family home is a true mix of contemporary luxury.
