Grand Hamptons

Apr 1, 2019

Exuding luxury with a relaxed homely feel, Riverstone’s latest custom-built home embodies quintessential Hamptons style on a grand scale.

Everything in this four bedroom, three bathroom Attadale home has been done to epic proportions, with the clients’ wish for a light, airy feel achieved through walls of glass bringing the incredible outdoor spaces in.

The symmetrical elevation and concealed undercroft garage create an attractive street presence, with a large balcony, veranda and feature weatherboard cladding introducing the timeless beauty of the Hamptons design.

“The balance of the front elevation makes a great first impression,” Riverstone Owner/Director Tim Marshall explains.

“The clients wanted a home that was honest to the Hamptons feel and the finished product has certainly delivered that.”

Armed with a picture of a living room with high pitched ceilings and open beams, the owners had a clear idea of what they wanted for the heart of the home.

Soaring raked ceilings lined with white feature panelling make a striking impact, with the living/dining area drenched in natural light via the lofty feature windows.

“It’s an amazing feature in the home and something we really enjoyed putting together, through the design phase right through to installing the lining boards,” Tim says.

“The designers, supervisor and carpenters did a brilliant job and the result is a beautiful yet practical entertaining and living zone.

The living space also has a feature wall with a fireplace, bordered by built-in window seats and the dining area has an adjoining wine cellar. Stacking sliders open out to the alfresco which has its own fireplace with feature stone cladding.

“We really wanted a clear view from the kitchen through to the alfresco and pool, as well as garden views from the majority of rooms,” the owners explain.

“The design hit 95 per cent of the brief in version one, which gave us a sense that our image of the property was being heard and understood by Riverstone.”

The gourmet kitchen and scullery feature Essastone benchtops, tiled splashback and integrated appliances, while functionality is at its best with an adjoining laundry and cool-room.

Hues of white, grey and splashes of blue contrast beautifully against European Oak timber flooring, accompanied by custom skirting, window sills and architraves throughout.

The ground floor has a sizeable guest suite complete with walk-in robe, ensuite and built-in cabinetry, as does the study which sits on the opposite side of the vast entry hall.

Upstairs, the lounge room is a welcoming retreat in-between the master suite and kids’ bedrooms, with a kitchenette and access to the wide balcony that runs the width of the house.

The master suite features a huge walk-in robe, double glass doors opening onto the balcony and ensuite with free-standing bath.

The third bathroom also has a free-standing bath and shares the same stunning herringbone Calacatta marble floor tiles as the other bathrooms.

Both minor bedrooms are a great size and have large walk-in robes, one of which also leads to the sprawling balcony overlooking the picture-perfect front yard.

As well as the enormous garage in the undercroft, there is mudroom and plenty of storage, with a lift to access all three levels.

The clients say they are in love with the finished product and praised the Riverstone team they worked with through every step of the planning, design and building processes.

“It’s come off the page better than we could have expected,” the client says. “The work put in to achieve the feel was spot on and the detail and finish are great.

“We didn’t find an issue we couldn’t sort out and any compromise of design was never considered – something we think set Riverstone apart.”

As for their favourite parts of their new family home?

“The living room and kitchen are just awesome! The master bedroom, walk-in robe and ensuite flow and provide lots of hidden room. Both kids love their rooms and the guest room is brilliant – there are too many spots to mention and none that we don’t like.

“We’re over the moon with the final product and we’re looking forward to enjoying many years with this one.”
