With a striking frontage that sets the tone for what’s inside, Riverstone’s newest display home flawlessly blends contemporary style with classic luxury.

Cleverly designed to make the most of a 350sqm corner block, the spacious three-level home features a reverse-style layout to capitalise on the spectacular river views.

Riverstone Owner/Director Tim Marshall says the Mosman Park home was custom-designed for a family with teenage children, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two powder rooms, lift and multiple living areas on the wish-list.

“The brief was for a contemporary family home, with a slight industrial edge but overall still a classic style,” he says. “The clients wanted to maximise the river views, high-spec, quality finishes, as well as the home being well-zoned, with separate areas and living spaces for the teenagers and adults.

“The block is only small, but it’s a large home with great views, a pool and several outdoor spaces – our designers achieved this by thinking outside the square and using the corner block to its fullest potential.”

The upside-down configuration has the main living area on the top floor, opening onto a balcony with sweeping views over Minum Cove, as well as ocean glimpses to the west.

The luxe-factor is at its finest across this level; from the stone flooring to the recessed feature timber-panelled ceiling in the family room, the quality of finishes is second-to-none.

American walnut is beautifully used in the gourmet kitchen, featuring in the overhead and integrated fridge and freezer cabinetry, open display shelves, computer nook and breakfast bar, which is stepped-down from the central island bench. Ceasarstone benchtops in fresh concrete and a white mosaic-tiled splashback contrast well against the rich timber and black industrial-style lighting, and a walk-in pantry and Miele appliances ensure the kitchen is highly functional as well as ultra-stylish.

The living and dining areas are drenched in natural light from the bi-fold doors out to the balcony as well as the incredible stairwell which is a real statement piece in itself – north-facing glass walls overlook the front yard and pool, and the staircase has stone risers and roasted peat timber treads. Externally, the windows have feature aluminium louvres in dark bronze and are surrounded by burnt Ash timber cladding – a stunning highlight of the modern façade.

“The abundance of glass and windows as well as the balconies all around the corner block give it that much sought after indoor/outdoor flow and connectivity,” Mr Marshall explains.

The master suite is also located on the top floor, with its own balcony, huge walk-in robe and ensuite, walk-in shower, free-standing bath and double vanity. Concrete stone benches, walnut Woodmatt cabinetry and full height tiling are carried through the remaining wet areas in the home.

The ground floor has three minor bedrooms - one of which has its own ensuite; the main bathroom, powder room, laundry and an activity room with kitchenette. This flows out to the alfresco area and plunge pool, a tranquil space created by Tim Davies Landscaping that really finishes off the house and adds to its street appeal.

Downstairs, the undercroft is the ultimate ‘man cave’, consisting of a huge theatre room, bar with built-in wine racks and storage.

“The undercroft is yet another great living area and being carpeted and tucked away it certainly offers a really cosy space to unwind, despite its large scale. The dimensions of this space were also designed to maximise the sound quality in the room as the clients will use it for watching movies and listening to music” he says.

“Timber has been used right throughout the home, from full-height panelled walls to the cabinetry and even the ceiling – it really works both as a design feature and to soften the other contemporary finishes to ensure it feels like a warm, family residence.”

The Cove is now open for viewing.
